STARBUCK SCHOLARSHIP FUND

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

General Information

Starbuck Scholarships will be awarded on or about October 1st.

 

All applicants for scholarship grants will receive scholarships if they are:

1.     A confirmed member, child or grandchild of active members of the Auburn United Methodist Church or Auburn, NY and

2.    Is enrolled in an accredited college or university taking courses totaling a minimum of twelve credit hours a semester, that will           lead to a bachelor's degree, and who have not had five or more scholarships for undergraduate study or

3.    Is enrolled in an accredited college or university taking courses totaling a minimum or twelve credit hours a semester, that will           lead to an advanced degree, or

4.    Is enrolled in a training course of comparable duration for an occupational skill that will lead to a certificate or license to                     practice that skill.

In the event that and application is for less than twelve credit hours, a semester, or the training course is less than three months in duration, the Scholarship Committee shall have the final decision as to (1) the acceptability of the application, and (2 ) if acceptable, how the scholarship dollar amount will be prorated. The scholarship will be reviewed yearly to determine if funding will continue as it pertains to the available resources.

 

Instructions

 

  1. The completed application for each scholarship request must be submitted to the Scholarship Committee at Auburn United Methodist Church, 99 South St. Auburn, NY, 13021. (Also see instruction (3) below)
  2. Complete sections 1 through 5 with short concise answers to keep within the space provided, listing only key activities in answering sections 2 and 3.
  3. Using a typewriter or computer printer, use the reverse side of the application for the short essay of 250 words or more for section 6.
  4. Applications must be postmarked, or hand delivered to the church office, on or before September 1, or the next full business day following September 1st, or the next full business day following September 1 if September 1 falls on a weekend or a holiday.
  5. Please submit your application without attachments. This means you should be handing in only 1 piece of paper.
  6. Failure to follow these instructions may result in your application being returned for compliance with these instructions.
